Medium:   Copper engraved, printed on Arches paper, and coloured by Pierre Durandet.
Dimensions:   47.20cm wide   37.30cm high (18.58 inches wide  14.69 inches high)
Description:   One copy only is known of this fantastical twin hemisphere map of the world after various prominent cartographers from Mercator and Ortelius to Blaeu and Hondius, in a first proof with original colouring by the artist and designer of the map, Pierre Durandet (1901-1982). The date of the engraving is about 1930, and the paper on which it is printed is watermarked in script Arches.

Condition:   Slight staining and cracking along blank edges. Otherwise in good condition with no damage to the engraved area, except for a slight tear in the upper right corner amounting to approximately 2.5 cm, but virtually imperceptible. See photographic detail. Mounted on thin board.
