One copy only is known of this fantastical twin hemisphere map of the world after various prominent cartographers from Mercator and Ortelius to Blaeu and Hondius, in a first proof with original colouring by the artist and designer of the map, Pierre Durandet (1901-1982). The date of the engraving is about 1930, and the paper on which it is printed is watermarked in script Arches.

Slight staining and cracking along blank edges. Otherwise in good condition with no damage to the engraved area, except for a slight tear in the upper right corner amounting to approximately 2.5 cm, but virtually imperceptible. See photographic detail. Mounted on thin board.
