Description:
|
The clock , surmounted by scrolling acanthus leaf scrolls with a central gilt and porcelain floral and foliate finial, is mounted within a square white marble block decorated with ormolu beading to the edges , floral and foliate spandrels around the dial, and trailing berried laurel mounts to the sides. The vase shaped marble support is carried on the backs of two chained birds which stand on the marble base which has ormolu chain and bead decoration and is inset with foliate friezes to the shaped break front and sides and stands on toupee feet.
The twin barrel eight day movement countwheel strikes on a bell and the backplate is engraved "Hré Lieutaud à Marseille" "No. 1086". The silk suspended pendulum hangs externally.
