| Description: |
The drum case has a floral bouquet finial and trailing vine leaves and bunches of grapes to the sides above a concave-sided base supported on four hairy paw feet , and mounted with rising sheaves of corn. There are four urn finials to the angles and a central laurel garland framing an aperture revealing the twin butterfly pendulum. The black marble base with a bead and read gallery mount, is inset with a relief cast frieze panel depicting playful amorini and stands on turned bun feet.
The white enamel dial with Roman hour chapters and Arabic fifteen minute markers, has chased and pierced ormolu hands. The eight day twin barrel movement with flat bottomed plates has a countwheel and strikes the hour and half hours on a bell. The twin butterfly pendulum is silk suspended. |
