The top, retaining its attractive original brass gallery, is above six small mahogany lined drawers, with rosewood knob handles, to each side of five pigeon holes. The writing surface, with a gold coloured hide that has gilded decoration, hinges to reveal a mahogany lined compartment of most useful proportions. The whole is raised on shaped and tapered ends with carved bun feet and united by a central turned stretcher carved with two tulips at the centre. The whole is of a most pleasing design and is in fine condition retaining a patination. (Leather replaced) |
