Tortoiseshell-cased singing bird box standing on four ball feet. Decorated with brass flowers to the corners and having brass leaves and berries decorating the oval bird cover. The song of the bird is very realistic. It opens its beak and turns from side to side, flapping its wings as it sings. To start the automaton the round button on the right is pulled out. The mechanism is wound from the underside, where there is also a small brass plaque stamped `FWC 830’. Serial number: 1888. Possibly made by Flajoulot of Paris |
