Large Gold amulet of Sekhmet ( 715 BC - 332)

Dimensions:   1.00cm wide   5.00cm high (0.39 inches wide  1.97 inches high)
Description:   Egyptian sheet gold amulet of the cat headed goddess Sekhmet, seen as a cat headed human striding. An unusual form with the dress suggesting a male god, but the head as those of the goddess. Sekhmet was the fierce goddess of the Memphite area, who symbolised the burning heat of the sun and, as the sun-god's vengeful eye, destroyed his enemies and brought plague and pestilence.

Condition:   In good condition, some repairs to the flat back of the gold where dented, otherwise an unusual and rare piece
